Highway Department
The Highway Department is responsible for town owned properties, maintenance and repair of streets and roads. This department is also responsible for all town highway work scheduling and coordinating with other town departments and local public utilities.
Services
The following are serviced by the Highway Department:
- Drainage
- Repaving
- The reviewing of complete work
- Roadside and right-of-way brush clearing
- Sanding
- Snow and ice removal
- Storm sewers
- Street sweeping
- Town parking lots
Permits Issued
The following permits will be issued by the Highway Department:
- Driveway Permits and Bonds
- To apply to become a private Snow Plow Contractors print out the application and return to the Highway Garage (A copy can also be picked up at the same location).

Road & Bridge Notices
Guelphwood Road
Guelphwood Road will be closed from Denfield Road to the Southbridge line until further notice. Please seek alternate routes.
Sand & Salt Collection
Charlton residents are able to go to the following location for sand and salt, there is a 2 bucket limit:
15 Old Town Road (Town Salt Shed)

Petitions
New petitions for private roads are available for pick-up at the Highway Department Office located at the following location:

Petitions are required to continue maintenance and Snow and Ice removal on private roads.
